REPORTS
Chesterfield Police Report
Lt. Connelly gave the February Police Report. Both he and Alderperson McNamara gave a follow up report regarding the Kehrs Mill Trails flag. Mayor Douglass said we will continue to monitor the situation but was pleased the resident amended the language on the flag.
Mayor’s Report
Court Report: Mayor Douglass said court is still not in session and the best estimate for holding court may be as soon as May. The amount received in January 2021 for court receipts was $2,948.92.
Trash Container: Mayor Douglass reminded everyone of our discussion last month on trash containers and said of the 32 letters to residents in the Dunhill Farm Subdivision regarding visible trash containers, five called back to say they believe their containers are not visible. Mayor Douglass said our city is not alone in legislating this. He said Ballwin has something very similar. He said he drove through the city last Tuesday and found a few others that were visible from the street, but the five that called us were right. Their containers were not visible. At this point we expect to hear from the subdivision trustees because there are more than those five who did not respond and did not move their containers with receipt of the first letter. We’ll keep you posted.
Sanitation Contract: As reported at the previous two meetings, the sanitation contract ends June 30, 2021. We’ve created a schedule in order to have a contract ready to serve our residents on July 1st. On March 10th we plan to mail the RFP’s (Requests for Proposals) with a reply requested by April 27th. On May 4th we will hold a public hearing and at that meeting, take the vote for the contract. Mayor Douglass expressed to those present, this schedule is flexible and if there are any qualms we can modify to fit the needs of this Board.
Revenue/Expense Report and Budget Discussion: Mayor Douglass directed the Board’s attention to the Utility Franchise Fees and reminded everyone why this revenue is lower than budgeted. He then directed everyone’s attention to the Public Safety Revenue and said we will be asking for reimbursement of snow removal invoices from last year (2019-2020) concluding by saying the money is there.
Alderpersons’ Reports
Trash Misses in Forest Hills Club Estates: Alderperson Schultz said there were misses in his subdivision and he made a few calls to Waste Management and the trash was eventually collected.
Stop Sign at Kettington and Clarkson Roads: Alderperson Midyett reported that someone hit the stop sign at the Kettington/Clarkson Road intersection and it is severely listing. The City Clerk said the sign was actually knocked down and the sign person reinstalled in the existing hole. He is in the process of ordering a new pole and it will be righted.
City Attorney’s Report
Patrick Butler reported there will be a Board of Adjustment Hearing next Monday evening.
