Mayor’s Report
Ad for Job Opening: Mayor Douglass said we’ve placed an ad for a job opening for assistant to the city clerk. We’ve also been in discussion with Kelly Services who can supply a list of potential applicants. We will pursue further discussion later this month.
Revenue and Expense Report – Miscellaneous Account: The City Clerk was asked to explain the reasons for the higher figures in the Miscellaneous accounts – both revenue and expense. She said she closed the POST account since the POST fees are now collected by Chesterfield Court Municipal Division. The monies were forwarded to the revenue account, and a check going to Chesterfield came out of the expense account. The same with the Escrow Bond account, where the Kehrs Mill Glen Subdivision Escrow Money went into the revenue account and the check was sent to the subdivision trustees for Kehrs Mill Glen.
Alderpersons’ Reports
Potential Nuisance Property: Alderperson McNamara said she received several calls regarding a property in the Kehrs Mill Trail Subdivision that backs up to Clarkson Road. There are many trees that were felled on that property and the remains are stacked along and parallel to Kehrs Mill Road. The building commissioner will determine the address.
MSD – Westhampton Subdivision: Alderperson Midyett asked Mayor Douglass if he has any new information to Mr. Jacobsmeyer’s request that MSD bypass his property when updating the sewer system in West Hampton. Mayor Douglass said he conversed with MSD several times regarding this and the latest word is they will try to accommodate that desire of the homeowner, although no promise was ever made. Alderperson Midyett was asked how the homes behind and to the east of the lake faired during the recent heavy storm, to which Alderperson Midyett said not well. The grinder pump MSD installed had failed and once again, there was at least one flooded basement.
City Attorney’s Report
There was no report.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
There was no unfinished business.
NEW BUSINESS
Approval of Appointments: Mayor Douglass asked if everyone had an opportunity to read the biographies we received from the two applicants, to which everyone responded they did. Alderperson Schiller made a motion to approve the appointment of Damon Coulis to sit as a member of the Board of Adjustment, seconded by Alderperson Schultz. A voice vote was taken to approve the addition of Damon Coulis to the Board of Adjustment with a unanimous affirmative result and the motion was declared passed.
Alderperson Midyett made a motion to approve Steve Howard to sit as a member of Planning and Zoning, seconded by Alderperson McNamara. A voice vote was taken with a unanimous affirmative result and Mayor Douglass declared Steve Howard as the newest member of Planning and Zoning.
Audit: Alderperson Schiller made a motion to approve payment of invoices in the amount of $68,958.46, seconded by Alderperson Meyer. A voice vote was taken to approve the audit with a unanimous affirmative result and the motion was declared passed.
Alderperson Schiller made a motion to adjourn the virtually-held Regular Meeting of the Board of Aldermen, seconded by Alderperson Midyett. A voice vote was taken with a unanimous affirmative result and the motion was declared passed. The Meeting of the Board of Aldermen adjourned at 6:55 p.m.
